Muna Subba
From an early age, I was introduced to spiritual practices which were shared in my family home. I remember fasting in the holy month of Shravana for Lord Shiva, collecting different stones from the holy rivers and worshipping them as various forms of Gods and Goddesses.
We also used to carry Holy scriptures from the teachings of Lord Buddha on our heads whilst walking around the monastery during Buddha Purnima. Perhaps because of these firm foundations, the seeds of yoga were planted.
My first step on the path of yoga started when I was a student in college.
We were introduced to some simple pranayama and meditation practices which had a profound impact on my life.
In 2013, I found my way to Ashtanga vinyasa yoga which became my guide for several years. This eight-fold path and daily practice offered me a way to clear stress and stay centered while dealing with a busy life in the corporate world.
"When a student is ready, the teacher will appear."
Over time, I felt drawn to explore the practice on a deeper level. In 2016, I made my first trip to Mysore, India to study the traditional method of Ashtanga yoga under the guidance of R. Saraswati Jois and R. Sharath Jois.
Furthering my practice, I've had the fortune to study under the guidance of Sharmila Desai at Ashtanga Yoga Morjim.
I've also been studying philosophy and chanting from my teacher through direct transmission for the past six years.
In 2019, I began to share the practice of Ashtanga yoga with those who are open and willing to learn.
It is a privilege and honor to be able to offer the gift of this daily practice which has been a source of joy, healing, and personal growth.
With deepest gratitude and reverence towards all my teachers whom I have been fortunate to meet in this lifetime and helped with my journey, I dedicate my teachings and practice to all of them.
And to my first Guru, Lord Shiva,
whose blessings made all of this possible.
